The Good Doctor Season 5, So, finally, we are getting the fifth season of The Good Doctor. first renewal of ABC this fall 2020-21, and that means a lot. The show was renewed for the fifth season while the fourth was airing. So, it is obvious that the makers had lots of plans for the show firsthand. Now, even the release date is out. So, let’s take a look at everything we know about ‘The Good Doctor’ as of now.

Plot
The official synopsis of the show reads “Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and Savant syndrome, is recruited into the surgical unit of a prestigious hospital”.
And basically, that is the whole plot of the series. But the nice thing about the good doctor is that it’s more about a person who has autism trying to figure out life. How to be a good surgeon by communicating and how to have a romantic relationship are the basic challenges he faces. In that way, it’s not like any other medical show.
The fifth season will pick up right from the end of season 4. Season 4 was very moving. At least, for Shaun and Lea. Both of them started dating and then Lea became pregnant after a while. But towards the end, we saw something really bad happen to both of them. We won’t tell you what it is as it would be a spoiler. The couple worked things out and got engaged by the end of the season.
There were other changes as well. Morgan and Park started dating, Claire took a job at the local hospital, and Lim and Dr. Rendon started a long-term relationship. The fifth season will have lots of narratives to pull through and if they can make it work it will be amazing.
The Good Doctor Release Date
As of now the fifth season of the show is all set to release on September 27, 2021. Just like always, the show will premiere on ABC and later, other OTT platforms like Netflix will pick it up. Just like the previous season, the fifth season will also consist of 18-20 episodes. However, there is no confirmation regarding that as of now. We might also get a trailer regarding the fifth season in the coming days.
The release date might get postponed a bit as no new announcement has been made for quite a time now. We will update you as soon as something is announced.
Cast
All the major cast members will return for the fifth season of the series. Freddie Highmore will return as Dr. Shaun Murphy, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman, Paige Spara as Lea Dilallo, Fiona Gubelmann as Dr. Morgan Reznick, Will Yun Lee as Dr. Alex Park, Christina Chang as Dr. Audrey Lim, and Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews.
The makers have already announced that Antonia Thomas has left the show after the fourth season. So, you won’t be able to see Dr. Claire Browne on your screen now. That will be a huge void because Dr. Claire was a big part of the show no matter how you look at it.
In her place, Bria Samoné Henderson (Dr. Jordan Allen) and Noah Galvin (Dr. Asher Wolke) will be a regular part of the series. But replacing and filling that void might be really difficult.
What To Expect?
Just like every season, expect a rollercoaster of emotions once more. There are so many stories that can unfold in this season. And I am excited about every single storyline.
